Common questions about NIN enrolment
- Is NIN enrolment free?
- Yes. First-time NIN enrolment is free at NIMC centres. You should never pay anyone to enrol you.
- How long does enrolment take?
- The biometric capture itself usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes once it is your turn, but queues can be long, so go early.
- Can someone enrol on my behalf?
- No. You must be physically present for biometric capture. Proxy enrolment and proxy collection are not allowed.
- What is the minimum age for the ID card?
- Anyone can be enrolled and get a NIN, but the physical national ID card is issued from age 16.
